The day began overlooking the Andaman Sea and continued with an elegant evening celebration. Two distinct settings, connected by one story…

The moments immediately after a wedding ceremony often pass especially quickly—congratulations, family photographs, conversations with guests and the last light before sunset all happen within a short space of time. For Vienne and Jack, this part of the day connected an intimate oceanfront ceremony with a lively evening celebration.
The couple travelled from Hong Kong to celebrate their destination wedding at Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon Beach, surrounded by approximately 100 family members and friends.
As their photographer, I wanted to preserve both sides of the celebration: the quiet emotions and ocean views of the ceremony, followed by the speeches, wedding games and energy of the reception.

From Hong Kong to a Destination Wedding in Phuket
A destination wedding brings people together in a place that becomes part of the story itself. For Vienne and Jack, Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon Beach offered two contrasting settings within one resort: an outdoor ceremony overlooking the Andaman Sea and an evening reception inside the Arcadia Ballroom.
With around 100 guests attending the celebration, the photography needed to include more than the couple alone. The reactions of their families and friends, the atmosphere around the ceremony and the energy of the reception were equally important parts of the final story.
My approach was to combine natural documentary photographs with a smaller number of guided portraits. This allowed Vienne and Jack to remain present with their guests while still receiving a varied and complete wedding gallery.
An Oceanfront Ceremony at Banyan Tree Deck
The ceremony took place at Banyan Tree Deck, an oceanfront setting surrounded by tropical greenery and views across the Andaman Sea.
During the ceremony, my attention remained on Vienne and Jack while also following everything happening around them: the arrival of the bride, the exchange of vows and the expressions of the people closest to them.
Wide photographs established the location and scale of the celebration, while closer frames preserved the quieter gestures and reactions that can easily pass unnoticed during the day.
The result was not only a record of the ceremony itself, but also a visual sense of what it felt like to be there with the couple and their guests.
Family Portraits and the Last Light of the Day
After the ceremony, we photographed the main family and group combinations. With a large guest list, this part of the day needed to remain organised without becoming too formal or taking the couple away from the celebration for too long.
Once the group portraits were complete, Vienne and Jack had a short session together in the remaining evening light.
We did not need to turn this part of the day into a long, separate photoshoot. A few carefully chosen locations and simple direction were enough to create romantic portraits while preserving the natural transition between the ceremony and reception.
These photographs brought a quieter chapter into the gallery before the pace and atmosphere changed again inside the ballroom.
An Evening Celebration in the Arcadia Ballroom
The wedding continued in the Arcadia Ballroom, where speeches, wedding games and dancing brought everyone together for the evening reception.
The ballroom created a completely different visual atmosphere from the ceremony. The open ocean views and natural daylight were replaced by indoor lighting, movement and the energy of a large celebration.
I photographed this part of the wedding primarily as it happened. Rather than directing events, I followed the interactions between Vienne and Jack, their families and guests—looking for spontaneous expressions, laughter and the smaller moments taking place around the main programme.
The speeches and games created many natural reactions, while the dance floor allowed the final part of the gallery to feel more dynamic and energetic.
One Wedding, Two Distinct Atmospheres
What I particularly enjoyed about photographing this Pullman Phuket Arcadia Naithon Beach wedding was the contrast between its two main settings.
Banyan Tree Deck gave the ceremony a calm, open atmosphere overlooking the sea. The Arcadia Ballroom brought everyone into one space for a more expressive and energetic celebration.
Together, these settings gave the final gallery a natural visual progression: the anticipation and emotion of the ceremony, formal and candid portraits after the vows, a few quiet moments with the newlyweds, and the movement of the evening reception.
The approximately 100 photographs selected for this page show more than a small collection of highlights. They offer a broader view of Vienne and Jack’s wedding, including the couple, their guests and the atmosphere that connected each part of the day.
